The 3 Best Books Entrepreneurs And Side Hustlers Should Read
Disciplined action. That is the secret and the only bridge that’s going to connect you to your future goals and dreams.
Not another book, not another guru seminar, and not another positive thinking meditation. After I exited the personal
development, law of attraction, and business book worm hole that I spent years in I can confidently say that they all
say the same thing in different ways.
Think positive while being a happy and giving person and you’ll have an awesome abundant life. Eat healthy with some
exercise thrown in and you’ll be healthy. Live below your means and save wisely and you’ll have lots of money. Want to
be a millionaire? Okay, create a product or a service that helps millions of people and it will happen. Suffering from a
trauma that happened in the past? Hey kid, no one has the power to change the past but we all have the power to start
right now and change our future. The life in front of you is far more important than the life behind you. Take your eyes
off the boat’s wake and move to the front of the boat so you can focus on new destinations. There, I just saved you from
years of reading and lots of money if you buy books and guru seminars.
Now, before you feel like tearing my eyebrows off with duct tape, just know I’m not recommending that you stop reading
or watching helpful seminars. I’m just recommending that you read and guru search less and DO more! If
you’re looking for a book with all the answers on what business to start and the exact steps to make it successful
before you jump into action, I’ll let you in on a secret. It doesn’t exist. Trust me. I’ve read them all.
So, with that said I got to thinking. If someone asked me, “What were the books that ripped you from the ‘feel good
while doing nothing’ worm hole and onto the field of action?” The 3 books that I’m about to introduce you to would be my
recommendation. However, if my rant above was inspiration enough to pull you out of the “rah rah feel good no action”
book pit, then good for you! Godspeed my friend and I hope your journey is life changing. But, if you just need a few
more shoves to get you off the crowded road to Comfortableville and onto the lonely road of entrepreneurship, then I
recommend diving into these books. In my opinion, these books are the closest you’re going to get to getting the answers
you’re looking for.
The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco
The author of this fantastic book tells it like it is. No fluff and no rah rah feel good platitudes. With this book you
will be taken into the pit of entrepreneurship with straight talk that will strike a nerve. I had a few “How dare he say
that about me!” moments while reading this book. But deep down, I knew he was right. So, if you’re easily offended then
I would stay away from this book and continue your reading regiment of fuzzy feel good books. Mr. DeMarco started out as
a nobody but was inspired by a Lamborghini he saw while getting ice cream as a kid. He suffered through college and
worked demeaning jobs until he stumbled upon a need while driving a limo for a limousine company. He was able to retire
a multi-millionaire in his 30’s and he takes you on his journey of how he changed his mindset, disciplines, and
ultimately his life. You will get timeless advice and the inspiration to take action after you read this. I promise!

Crush It! By Gary Vaynerchuk
Although this book was written in 2009, I still find it practical today. If you have any hobbies or passions and would
like to build a successful YouTube channel around them for some side hustle cash then I’d look no further than this
book. Gary Vaynerchuk is THE guy to watch and listen to if your goal is to build a social media brand.
Some of the comments in the review section say that this book is outdated but I’ll have to disagree. I didn’t read this
book until 2016 and it helped me tremendously with my own social media presence. Gary’s primary point in the book is
that social media has broken down the traditional barriers to building an audience so that now anyone can make an income
off their passion, no matter what it is. He illustrates it with the example of worms. Say you love worms more than
anything…you could do a blog and podcast about worms, and you could do so from several angles: fishing, the study of
worms, worm farms, whatever. His point is that you by being passionate and authentic and creating an audience of other
worm-lovers out there (and they are out there), you can make a good living off of it. Folks, there are actual people out
there making thousands of dollars talking about Smurfs. What are you waiting for!

Unscripted by MJ DeMarco
Yea I know, another MJ DeMarco book. I love this guy’s books because he’s already made his fortune (not from writing
books) and couldn’t care less if he sells a book or not. So, he writes from his heart and not from an ambition to cash
in on yet another, “Feel good while saving 10% of your income” book. Anyway, about the book. Do you ever feel like
you’re living the movie Groundhog Day? If you’ve never seen it then let me give
you the cliff notes. A guy wakes up and lives the same day over and over again. Is that you? Do you wake up at the same
time to the same alarm sound every day? Then, put on work clothes and drive the same way to work to do the same thing
you did yesterday for 8 hours with the same people? Only to repeat this insane script for years and years! This book is
the red pill you’ll need to get unscripted and out of the matrix. This book is loaded with gems and gives you the
answers that will help you take back your most precious asset. And that asset is the freedom to spend your time here
however YOU want. Not how society and your boss wants.

Well, there you have it. These books are the ones that took me from a dreamer to a do-er. And again, I’m not
recommending that you stop reading. But, look at it like showering. Whenever you feel icky you take a shower, right?
That’s how I approach reading feel good books. Whenever I start to feel icky, I get a feel good book to get me back on
track in between long streaks of taking action. It’s every once and a while. Not every day. Whether it be spiritual,
motivational or whatever I’m wanting to improve at the time. Also, whenever you start taking action read more about what
you’re doing. Don’t just aimlessly read whatever Tai Lopez or some other business guru says to read. You need to be
reading about the business you’re trying to start or get better at. Now you’re reading with a purpose and not just to
feel warm and fuzzy inside while saying, “Someday I’m going to be great.” Now, you’re reading and applying strategies
that will make you great. That some day has arrived.
