Here Are Some Maintenance Appreciation Ideas

Saying “Thank you” to your maintenance team for watching over the multi-million dollar investment doesn’t have to be expensive. Here are some maintenance appreciation ideas. I’ve been a maintenance technician for almost 20 years and I’m going to share with you gifts that I love getting. The gifts that I’ll be sharing are gifts that maintenance techs usually don’t mind having multiples of. So, you won’t have to worry if we already have it. We like to have one in the truck, one on the golf cart and one in the tool bag.

Before we get started, let me note that money and gift cards are ALWAYS good to give maintenance technicians. Just make sure the gift cards are to Home Depot, Lowe’s or Ace Hardware. That way, we can buy a tool we’ve been wanting. But, if you want to sweeten the pot with some goodies that don’t cost more than $20.00 then keep scrolling.

I love getting a headlamp and I can’t have too many of them. I like to have a headlamp accessible at all times. So, I need one in my tool bag, one on my golf cart, and one in my truck’s glove compartment. So, don’t worry that we might already have one. Plus, they break or the bulbs blow so some back-up headlamps are a must.

I love getting funny shirts that poke fun at what I do for a living. Having a funny t-shirt folded up on a 6 pack of my favorite drink along with a gift card is a perfect gift package.

You can’t go wrong with this as a gift. It’s the best stud finder I’ve ever owned. Also, it’s only around $7.00. It doesn’t take batteries and I’ll never buy another battery powered stud finder again. Also, I like to have multiple. One in my tool bag, one in my truck, and one on my golf cart.

This gift your techs will use often. It will also prevent them from getting electrocuted. It’s a non-contact voltage tester. It beeps when you hold it close to a live electrical wire or you can put it into an outlet and see if that outlet is live. This is a perfect gift for under $20.00 and again, we don’t mind having multiple of these. So, no need to worry if we already have one.

So, there you have it! Money, gift cards and the items posted above are perfect thank you gifts for your maintenance team. I made sure to post items that we don’t mind having multiples of. So, you don’t need to worry if we already have them. Now, I’ll go over maintenance appreciation week activities that I’ve enjoyed.

The company that I work with dedicates the entire month of April and calls it, “Maintenance Month”. Every week during April they take us some where special.

  • The first week, they take us out to a nice breakfast place and we eat good while socializing with techs from other properties.
  • The second week, we take off at noon on a Friday and go bowling.
  • The third week, they take us for an expensive lunch at Long Horn Steak House where we can order whatever we want. (I usually get the steak and lobster)
  • The fourth and last week is the big one and it changes every year. We take off the whole day on Friday and go deep sea fishing or to an amusement park to ride roller coasters. We’ve also been taken to a real deal racetrack to race souped-up go-carts that went 40 mph. We had to wear fire suits and the whole get-up. Also, we’ve done all day beach trips.

Along with taking us some where special, they bought us our favorite snacks and piled them up in the office. They pretty much spoil us for the entire month of April and it’s awesome. So, that’s pretty much it. I hope this helps you with your own maintenance appreciation week or month.
